For example, do it yourself plumbing repair can be easily achieved with copper or plastic pipe or, new valves under sinks can be replaced with out much complication. The only major concern you may have is if your shower plumbing needs repaired or replaced. If there is not an access to the plumbing from the back, you'll have to make an opening or remove tile.  Generally though, for most do it yourself plumbing repairs, you won't need to call in an expensive plumber. The only time I use a plumber is when I have a drain that is severely clogged and the pipe needs to be snaked or, a pipe is leaking somewhere underground.
